Director of Follmi Treks & Tours,
Tenzin Diskit life story is unique. She bears in the Buddhist valley of Zanskar at 3500m in India, one of the most isolated inhabited place in the world, where she has grown up till her studies. This local background and cultural values have inherited her aim of work combined with humanity and honesty.
She joined the school in Ladakh at the age of 8 by walking with her brother on the ice on the Frozen River of Zanskar for a 12 day journey, sleeping in the caves by -40°C. Her extraordinary story, photographed by world known photographer Olivier Föllmi has been awarded at the World Press Photo contest, largely published around the world and declared by Times Magazine in US as one of the best human adventure of the XXe century.
After a year of primary study in Lamdon School in Ladakh, Tenzin Diskit has studied in the Tibetan Children School of Pathlikhul where she learned discipline, compassion and fraternity. Then she studied in the Mussoorie Public School to end her final years in the prestigious Welham School in Dehradun where she learned ambition combined with solidarity, adaptation and understanding of the different values and cultures of India. By her simple and pure roots, by her different stages of studies in multiple social circles, she got a unique approach of multiple behaving.
After a year in Grenoble University in France to learn french language, Tenzin Diskit has been traveling in a widespread way in all Europe, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Thaïland, Vietnam, Laos and Burma. This large range of discovery provided her a better understanding of the world to be more flexible and adaptable to different ways of life and being. Settled in Ladakh and married with Tsering Angchuk, Tenzin Diskit has become HOPE delegate, a Swiss NGO develops Education in the world. She speaks fluently
Ladakhi, Tibetan, English, French, Hindi and
Urdu.
She is the founder and director of Follmi Treks & Tours, a traveling agency specialised in cultural tours in Ladakh, Zanskar and Nubra, as well as all India, Nepal and Himalayas. Purpose of
Follmi Treks & Tours is to provide travelers the right understanding of the culture by being closer to local people. By her unique background, her open mind and
