LEH PALACE |
Leh palace, known as was built by Lechen Palkhar was built by Dharamraja Singey Namgyal in 1600 AD. It has nine storeys and history says that its completion took three years. Leh was 1st of all capital of King Takpa Bum-de who ruled over the area of stod and Leh from 1400AD to 1430AD. It was he who builds the Red Chapel containing the statue of Maitreya Buddha, three storeys’ in height with the statue of Avalokitshvara & Manjushiri on either side, each one storey in height. The Temple of Namgyal Tsemo was built during the lifetime of King Tashi Namgyal who ruled from 1500 AD to 1532 AD. |

SANKAR GOMPA |
Sankar Gompa is a couple of Kilometers away from Lehtown. It belongs to Geylukspa school of Tibetan Buddhism. This small Gompa is a branch of Spituk Monastry, founded by the first incarnation of Skyabjey Bakula Rinpochay {Head monk of Spituk Monastry }. |
SHANTI STUPA |
Shanti Stupa at changspa , on the hilltop was built by the japenese for world peace, Which was inaugurated by H.H Dalai Lama in 1985. From the stupa one get to see the complete Leh town and a picturesque view of greenery and snow-clad mountains. |
